Weekend Thrift Store & Antique Store Shopping with my Daughter

So I tried Thrift Store & Antique Store Shopping this past weekend with my daughter - and we both made out good.

We went to the Dover Antique Mall in Dover, NJ

I was looking for 1 storage type furniture didn't find anything good - but got some good ideas...

And 2nd was looking for things for my art journals.

I found a 1902 Edition of the Sears Roebuck Catalogue...  The paper is so great - it's book page but stronger and so much typeface and photos on it.. can't wait to start using it.

I also found some really old black & white photos that were hard cardstock.

And 4 First Class Stateroom from 1921.

Some old sticker letters (which I used some and they work)..

My daughter got a big bag of jewelry from the 1920 time...

We are 100% going to continue our road trips and start hitting other's in the area..

This time around I still used Dylusions Sprays - just because I haven't set up the lindystamp Sprays... (have to read the instructions) but planning on doing it this week and then will try them on this weeks journal pages.

Then pull out the Faber Castel Gelatos and had some fun...

Mixed Media Journal Page Explore EveryDay.... 2-22-13

So with my new supplies at hand.... I started journaling....

I gotta say I just totally love the Dylusion Sprays - they are so colorful

and the are vibrant....

This is my Dylusion Creative Journal... I have a few different Journal books going right now

and switch back and forth depending on the mood, and drying time..

pulled out a few of the stencils... and went to town.

Did alot of spraying.... And had these Labels from a kit I got from Christy Tomlinson Scarlet Lime

I get her monthly kit.. I haven't done it feet (because I'm a saver....) but been working on using everything that I have..

Then I added some hearts I have from the same package and I had this 5x7 paper prints and I loved this girl's sexy legs so I cut them out...   Used paper from the same package and cut other hearts on it.

And then pulled out my Gelatos and did that around the edges  - and the hearts and the labels.

Then I pulled out my gelli pen and highlighted around everything....  I didn't like how the stencil around the edge of the page looked - so I then colored the gelatos and used my finger to rub it - and then took out my Pitt Bold Black Pen and drew around them.

I love how it came out.

Mixed Media Friday... My Version thank you Lindysgang

So as you all know I'm new to art journaling... so I've been watching tons of youtube videos...

I just found lindysgang Youtube...

So the above is my version of her video Mixed Media Friday on 2/15/13

I didn't have all the supplies that she did but I love the way it came out.

So - first thing I did was use the masking tape on the page.

I also didn't have the lindystamp sprays - but I purchased them so i'm just waiting on the package now....

So I used my dylusion sprays.

I also didn't have the templates so I drew out the templates... And used a few household objects to fill in the blankes.

Mixed media Journal Page - Flower Fun

So I had so much fun doing this page....  I had actually done something with paint dripping on these 2 pages - but didn't like the way it came out... So Gesso to the rescue....

See below for the progress and supply list.

See above the gesso process when I started it.

Below is when it was done and I started adding texture and supplies.

Above - I add Bazzill Basics Just the Edge 12" Cardstock Strips Perfectly Pleated Dictionary - this was something I had in my Stash for years....  Finally opened them up - I cut them in half only used 2 of them - but I love the texture it added.

I also grabbed a bunch of Close to my heart Stamp pads that I have had for years and just never opened.... I opened them and just stamped the entire pad onto the page in all different colors.  

I then took my favorite free tool... my empty toilet paper roll and pressed it into purple paint and stamped it all over the page...

I then drew petals around a few of them to make them flowers.

I started coloring the circles in with different acrylic paint colors

Used a thin paint brush and drew stems.

I then pulled out my pan pastels.

LOVE THESE....

I filled in the blank space between the flowers

Used Green

Purple and Green

I loved the light parts of the pan pastels - on it - but I also added down water down acrylic paints in parts of it.

I then outlined everything with a black market to have things stand out.

And added some red alphabet rub ons.

Below is the final outcome...

Mixed Media - Journal Page - Moments.....

So here's a page I did last week I think Wednesday... 

I actually used some left over paints I was using on a large Canvas which of course isn't done yet... That will be revealed soon...

I mixed paints with Liquitex Medium Resin Sand...  What I have left over I put right on this journal page...  Then waited a few days until the inspiration moved me..

Once it I had a total blast....

I gesso over the dried page - it was Red, Green and Brown...  it didn't really motivate me at all...

And once the gesso dried it looked Great.

I then sprayed some Dylusions Sprays over it.. Used London Blue and Crushed Grapes Once you put that over the medium it just pulls alittle into it... and it really came out great.

I then had some fun with something I have seen Donna Downey do a bunch of times and never really tried - but took my alphabet stencil and and sponge and black paint and had some fun....

I also took my handy dandy toilet paper roll and also dipped it into black paint and stamped all over...

I then used a flower stamp and Stars and stamped that all over the pages...

With the medium on the page it was really hard to see them - so I went over them with a thin paint brush and black paint to make them stand out.

I then took Faber Castel Gellatos and filled in the stamped images.

And then added some white paint to the flowers to make them stand out.

I also grabbed my bubble wrap with white paint which I love how that looks.

I hand drew some fun lines and dots around the outside frame and then painted different colors around it.

Added some scrapbooking embellishments I had in my stash... Again listening to Donna Downey to USE YOUR SUPPLIES....

And finally another trick I learned from her YouTube page - and used Silver India Ink and dripped it down the page...

I totally love these pages... So totally unexpected. 

 

Mixed Media - Journal Page Rainbow Fun

So here's a page I worked on friday that came out totally different then I started thinking about it.

So I did this in my Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions Creative Journal

Then I used my Dylusions Ink Sprays.

My favorite Colors...  Crushed Grape, Cut Grass, Squeezed Orange, Lemon Zest and London Blue and Black Marble

I also used acrylic paint (green, and pink) with the Crafter's Workshop Stencil 12"X12"-Cubist

I also Used White Paint on bubble wrap and pushed that on the pages.

And used the large Rubber Stamp background with Black Ink (clocks)

And also used the large rubber stamp background scrip

Also took a piece of black screen (from Home Depot) and then used the Black Marble Dylusions Inks Sprays over it.

I also used Around the Edge Dylusions Rubber Stamps

I then also stamped with Donna Downing Stamps insightful meadow stamp set

I also then colored in the leaves with Paints.

And then covered it with Ranger - Glossy Accents

And finally - used Dyan Reaveley's Stencil Chequered Dots

I love how this page came out...  Hope you enjoy it.

Mixed Media - Journal Page - Time Will Pass

So this is my Journal Page from yesterday that I worked on...

After spending the day with my family...  This is the thought that has come into my head.

All things good or bad will pass.  So when it's bed just wait it will get better.

Did this in my Mixed Media Journal Book

I gesso the page

I then put down the Crafter's Workshop stencil  12"X12"-Cubist

Laying it down and then sprayed with my 

Favorite product - Dylusions Ink Sprays

I also used a 2 Rubber Stamps I got from Michaels

a large background stamps - with Clocks on it

and the other Large Background stamps with script words

I then hot glued down Burlap to the page - 2 different colors - Lime Green and a aqua blue I got at Michaels.

I then glued down these chipboard clock pieces that I have had forever - not sure of the brand.

Put down a few crystal buttons I had as well.

I then put Glue down on the page - and put textured sand - colored on it.

Used Washi Tape

and

I then used Ranger Staz On Black Ink Pad

using the stencil mini chicken wire.

And then put letters glued onto the page - not sure of the brands.

So here's my Journal Page from Last weekend...  (again i'm catching my new blog up in 1 day - so doing alot of posts - that cover the last 6 months... 

so remember I'm pretty new to journaling..

I did this is in my new 

Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions Creative Journal

I LOVE IT !!!! LOVE LOVE 

I used the Dylusions Inks to get the background going...

Then used a few different colors of paint to get it layered on top.

I used bubble wrap for alot of the texture

I again used my favorite tool My empty toilet paper roll which I dip in paint and then stamped on the page.

I also used India Ink

A very feel good page...

I used Pan Pastels on the bottom... 1st Time Using them - Thanks to watching Donna Downey Inspiration Wednesdays.

I also used her Donna Downey Dress Form Stamp - which I found on ebay - but she has a bunch of other great stamps you can find here.

I also used Donna Downey Large Flowers

I painted the dress.  As well as going over the lowers and the dress form

I used Tissue Paper that comes off (3d) the dress - and also painted them as well...

I had a Total blast doing this page...

So I love how this page came out...

You can see how far I have come over the last 4 months...

I gesso the page in my mixed media journal book

I used Dylusions Sprays Inks... (LOVE THEM)...

Then I painted a bit with Acrylic's on top.

I then pulled out my Block Alphabet stencils - and used the Black Dylusions Sprays on top..

I also used a few more stencils.  with different colors.

Used my rubber stamps to do the words

And the Butterflys

I used an empty Toilet paper roll - dipped in ink and stamps on teh page.

Used Faber Castell Gelatos to fill in a few of the circles

Black Sheer Trim Ribbon That I got from Etsy by the store ATHINGFOR BLING

And finally I put india Ink and alot of drips down the page..

January - Journaling Project.

So below is  a mixed media journal piece I did when I was really missing my mom.

I gesso's the page

and then did alot of painting on it - using Golden paints..

Used Tim Hotz's From Ranger - Tissue Tapes

Used a few rubber stamps - didn't right down the brands Sorry need to work on keeping track.

Used foam stamps then painted them - and outlined them in Black Marker.

November 2012 Journaling

So since this Blog is new - I decided to just add a grouping of my journaling that I have done for the month of November.  This was the first time I have ever done anything like this before.  After finding it on pinterest.com - I feel in love.

 This was my first one ever...

Decided to do something about our family names.

One for my daughter who learned out to surf this past summer at the Jersey Shore.

A page that I did about having faith - and keeping the faith.

Used a whole bunch of techniques that I had look at on Youtube.

New Journalling Pages – Jersey Shore

So here’s a Journal pages that I did today.

I came across a Youtube from lindysgang  this demo was amazing and so motivating that I decided to try it myself.

I didn’t have everything she had to match it – but I did the best I could.

My book is a Mixed Media Album I got from Michaels I love it.

The Color Sprays are from Delusions lines

Used Black, Blue & Yellow…  Ribbon was just some misc I had laying around.  I also didn’t use the Modeling paste she did around the photo – but I did use Golden’s Natural Sand – figured that worked just as good since I was doing a Jersey Shore themed Photo.

Below are some closed up photos.

   REally had so much fun… Another few changes I did from her

original page was I just stamped the letters on book paper that and then once dryed I did used a paint marker to highlighted it all up.  Used a Heart stamp also with distressed ink and stamped it a few places.
